Mental Health First Aid Training: Learn What to Do When Someone Is Struggling
Saturday, October 24 | 10am-4pm | North Billerica Baptist Church | $30, lunch included
You'd know what to do if someone collapsed in front of you. Would you know what to say if someone told you they were having thoughts of suicide, or if a coworker was having a panic attack?
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the CPR of mental health. In one day, you'll learn a simple, proven action plan for supporting an adult who is in distress or in crisis, until professional help is available.
This training is for you if you are:
A parent, grandparent, or caregiver
A teacher, school staff member, or coach
A manager, HR professional, or small business owner
A faith leader, volunteer, or member of a care team
Anyone who wants to feel less helpless when someone they care about is struggling
No clinical background is needed.
What you'll learn:
How to recognize signs of anxiety, depression, psychosis, and substance use
How to start a conversation without making things worse
How to respond in a crisis, including suicidal thoughts and panic attacks
How to connect someone with local help and resources
What you walk away with:
A national MHFA certification, valid for 3 years
A digital workbook and local resource list
Confidence to act instead of freeze
How it works:
Register by Wednesday, October 14 so you have time for the pre-work.
Complete the short online course (about 2 hours, self-paced, done on your own schedule) before the training day.
Join us Saturday, October 24, 10am-4pm for the in-person session with lunch and snacks provided.
Your instructor: Sarah Macy, holds a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Disability Studies from Fordham University and an M.A. in Disability Studies from CUNY SPS in 2025. Sarah is a certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor.
Cost: $30. This covers the training, online course, digital workbook, lunch, and snacks. A printed workbook is optional (+$19).
Can't afford it? No problem. Email Jocelyn and get partial or complete scholarship, no questions asked!
Seats are limited to 15 people. Register now to hold your spot.
